Tuesday, July 25, 2017

This Nursery Rhyme and Name unit
 is a resource
to help teachers use the power of rhythm and rhyme
to teach kiddos
to recognize, identify and write their names.

The shared poem format and extensions provide many opportunities for kiddos
to read and write their own names
in meaningful and contextual formats.

The five nursery rhymes included are the following:

 *Jack Be Nimble
*Polly Put the Kettle On
*Mary Had a Little Lamb
*Rain, Rain, Go Away
*Did You Ever See a Laddie?

Each Nursery Rhyme and Name Unit includes

-Pocket chart activity
-Ideas to act out the poem using kiddos’ names
-Retell wheel
-Name paper
-Class book
-Name game

Enjoy!

Janice and Ann

PS Our kiddos loved these activities!
They loved
acting out the rhymes
and
sharing laughs with their friends.

PSS The first word the kiddos wanted to learn
to read and to write
was their own name!

PSSS Then the kiddos wanted to learn
all their friends
and  family member's names!

PSSSS Then the kiddos started to make connections
with the letters and the sounds--
the Power of the NAME!
